Today, we present to you Doorway , an esteemed ally that is supporting us during our 2024 program.  

Founded in 2019 by Antonella Grassigli, CEO & Chairman, Doorway has emerged as a pivotal player in Italy's venture investing scene. As a Benefit Company, Doorway operates through doorwayplatform.com, a premier Venture Investing platform in the country. The platform serves as a conduit, connecting investors with promising ventures in the real economy, particularly in the realm of Venture Capital. 

Doorway has seen remarkable growth, with its portfolio witnessing a 50% increase in value. Notably, 23% of the company's investment targets extend beyond Italy's borders, reflecting its commitment to embracing global opportunities. 

Central to Doorway's success is its collaborative approach. The company actively partners with established entities such as Italian Angels for Growth, Heroes, and United Ventures, fostering synergies and expanding its investment reach. 

Doorway's startup fundraising process is meticulous, spanning several key stages: 

First, startups initiate the evaluation process by submitting applications through the Dealum platform, gaining access to Doorway's investment team. 

Then Doorway's investment team rigorously analyzes the information provided by startups on the Dealum platform, including their pitch decks, to assess their investment potential.  

After the initial review, Doorway's team engages in calls and meetings with founders to gain deeper insights into the business, resolve queries, and assess alignment with investment objectives. Founders present their startups to Doorway's investment committee, initiating negotiations on the terms of investment outlined in the term sheet. Doorway facilitates fundraising efforts by enabling founders to showcase their startups to potential investors through both physical and digital events. 

Upon successful fundraising, Doorway disburses the capital raised, while the startup sells its shares to the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) established by Doorway. 

The SPV model plays a pivotal role in their investment strategy, enabling startups to maintain streamlined capital structures conducive to institutional investment. Each investment is managed through a dedicated SPV, with a deal champion appointed to oversee operations. Leveraging their professional expertise and network, deal champions offer invaluable support to startups, acting as auditors in shareholder councils in alignment with startup agreements. 

In essence, Doorway epitomizes a progressive paradigm in venture investing, driven by a commitment to fostering innovation, nurturing talent, and facilitating sustainable growth.
